The Great Galaxy in Andromeda

Report:
Since the observatory is named after it, it is about time that an observation of
the Great Galaxy (M31) in Andromeda was included.
Taken on a clear night on 2007 September 14, this image is a composite of 10 separate
2 minute images combined in Registax. The images were taken with a Starlight Xpress HX516 camera
attached to nothing more than a 135mm camera lens set at f/3.5. Such is the size of the galaxy that even with a
wide angle lens it barely fits onto the imaging chip.
Also visible in the image are two satellite galaxies, M110 at upper right and M32, directly below the core of
the parent galaxy.
